Keep salary costs separate from employer expenses
A single salary amount per employee avoids collecting a private compensation breakdown. HR records company-paid accommodation, transport, insurance, visas, training and benefits separately. If a cost is already included in salaries or purchases, it must not be entered again.
Compare labour costs with the same venue and month
Revenue is reported daily, while salaries and additional HR costs follow a monthly posting workflow. Service-charge distribution follows the agreed revenue formula. Distinguish automatic costs, approved payroll and costs still awaiting HR before interpreting the labour-to-revenue ratio.
Ask whether the cost or the trading volume changed
A higher labour ratio can come from weaker sales even when salaries remain unchanged. Compare the approved salary amount, additional expenses and revenue before deciding whether a staffing change is warranted. A missing payroll submission should not look like a zero-cost month.
